Five (5) Facts about Menstruation that you Should never take for Granted

For definitive puposes, I need to give Menstruation a definition, at least to give a clearer overview, in case there are novices here.

Menstruation is another term for your monthly period — which is when a woman's uterus sheds tissue, fluid and blood it no longer needs. The word "menstruation" comes from menses — the Latin word for "month."

Now let's hit the nail at the head:

Five (5) Facts about menstruation that should never be taken for granted.

1. Menstruation is biological, it is not spiritual. It has signs and symptoms. It is not miraculous. You may see a clear or whitish fluid in your underwear. This is vaginal discharge and is a sign that your period is on its way.

2. Menstruation is not abnormal, it is good. Getting your period is a normal, healthy and positive part of growing up!

3. Menstruation does not mean you are wasting your eggs. Each of your two ovaries holds thousands of eggs, and you are born with all the eggs you'll ever have!

4. Menstruation is not static or stable. It has no particular laid down rule. Irregularities are bound to occur. The average period releases about 4-12 teaspoons of menstrual fluid and only a small amount of that is blood. However, your flow can change throughout your menstrual cycle where some days are lighter or heavier than others.

5. Menstruation is not a collective affair. Everyone's menstrual cycle is different. Keep track of your unique cycle with a calendar to help you prepare for your next period. Don't wait for your friend. Two of you won't witness it at the same time.

Hope this helps.
